Apple will not be able to use its own modem in "iPhone 15"!

Apple will continue to buy modem chips from Qualcomm for the 2023 iPhone 15 series. The company said it is ready to provide the vast majority of modem chips for Apple devices.

Qualcomm will continue to be Apple's modem supplier

Apple is working to reduce its dependence on Qualcomm by developing its own modem technology, but it seems that Apple chips will not catch up with the 2023 event. It will take a long time before Apple gets its modem chip ready for use in iPhones and other devices. Apple analyst Kuo also said in June 2022 that Apple's work on the 5G modem chip had failed and that Qualcomm would remain Apple's modem supplier for the 2023 iPhone series. Apple bought Intel's smartphone modem division for $1 billion in 2019. With the acquisition, Apple gained more than 17,000 patents and a portfolio of more than 2200 Intel employees. However, Qualcomm and Apple were sued over patent royalties, eventually reaching a 6-year agreement that expires in 2025.
