Tim Cook does not want apps to be installed on iPhones from outside the App Store

Apple CEO Tim Cook urged users not to install apps by bypassing the App Store. According to Cook, this could compromise iPhone users' privacy.

Apple CEO Tim Cook reminded that users who download applications from unofficial sources are at risk of falling victim to scams. Tim Cook, speaking at the Global Privacy Summit event in Washington, said: "If we have to allow unverified apps on the iPhone, there can be serious unintended consequences. Companies that collect data will be able to circumvent our privacy policies and re-track our users against their will." Authorities in different countries are now trying to change Apple's mobile app store policy. The EU is preparing to enact a Digital Markets Act, which will stop the official App Store from being the only source of software in the Apple device ecosystem and prevent the company from charging special fees for each transaction. Seeing signs of monopoly in the actions of both Apple and Google, US lawmakers will take similar measures. More than 30 states sued Google in July, accusing the company of abusing its dominant position in the mobile software market.
