Disney+ launches “Verts,” a TikTok-style video feed

Disney+ has launched Verts, a new vertical video feed similar to TikTok. The company describes this feature as “a whole new way to discover stories.” Verts is considered the first phase of integrating vertical video into the Disney+ platform and is positioned as a dynamic feed designed to help users quickly find their next favorite title to watch.

To use the feature, users simply need to tap the new Verts icon in the navigation bar of the mobile app. They can then browse a vertical stream of selected scenes and moments from movies and series available on Disney+. Content they enjoy can be added directly to their Watchlist or played instantly.

Disney says that early testing showed Verts had a positive impact on user engagement. According to the company, this result is largely driven by a new recommendation algorithm that makes the experience more relevant and personalized. The algorithm is designed to ensure that the content shown in the feed is tailored to each user’s individual interests.

The company also notes that Verts will continue to evolve over time. Disney plans to expand the feature with creator content that reflects its fan communities, along with additional storytelling formats, new content types, and more personalized user experiences.
