iOS 17 includes security and privacy features, including automatic deletion of verification codes from messages. Here are the security features that will come to iPhone models that will receive iOS 17:
Better tracking protection
Apple added a new feature in iOS 17 that advertisers might not like. As is known, one of the ways advertisers follow users online is by adding tracking parameters to their web links. Monitoring parameters can even get the user's IP address, location information and device information. With the iOS 17 update, Safari, Mail and Messages can automatically detect such URLs and remove the tracking part instantly. This feature can be turned on under Settings - Safari - Advanced - Privacy - "Advanced tracking and fingerprint protection".
Automatic deletion of verification codes
For those who use the two-step authentication method with SMS, iOS 17 includes a new feature. Messages and verification codes sent to Apple Mail are automatically deleted after entering the site or application. You will see verification codes in Settings - Passwords - Password Options menu. It will be enough to turn on the automatically clean option.
New Photo releases
iOS 17 further restricts apps' access to photos. Any app you gave access to your photos six months or more ago will prompt you to continue granting them access. When Limit access is selected, the app asks for your permission every time you share a photo or video. In iOS 17, this feature is turned on automatically, you do not need to enable it from the settings.
iOS 17 beta is available for free download
These are the most important new security and privacy features coming with iOS 17. While Apple is expected to release the iOS 17 beta 2 update this week, the iOS 17 public beta will be released in July. The final version of iOS 17 will be released in the fall, as every year.
