The latest OLED panel produced by Samsung Display offers a maximum brightness of 2000 nits. This panel is used in the iPhone 14 Pro series and a few Android phones except Samsung's own models. The company is now working on an even brighter next-generation OLED panel. Samsung Display's next-generation OLED panel for smartphones is said to have reached an enormous brightness of 2500 nits. A reliable tipster sharing information about Apple says that this new OLED panel can be used in the iPhone 15 Pro Max model, which will be introduced this year. It will significantly increase outdoor visibility and realism in HDR content. However, it does not mean that the screen brightness will be 25% higher. The actual perceived brightness difference will be lower than the numbers.
Samsung Display's high-end OLED screens are usually launched with Galaxy S or Galaxy Note series phones. But Apple was the first to use the manufacturer's 2000 nits OLED display last year. The phone's manufacturer, Samsung MX, did not use the same panel on the Galaxy S23 phones. Therefore, it is possible that we will not see a 2500 nits screen on the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
Samsung offers consistent improvements with new OLED panels every generation, and LG Display manages to outperform competitors such as CSOT. The microLED screen of the new generation Apple Watch Ultra will also belong to Samsung.
