A recent report claims that the iOS 19 update will support all iPhone models currently compatible with iOS 18, but some iPad models might lose support. Here are the details:
The upcoming iOS 19 operating system, expected to be released by tech giant Apple in 2025, will continue to support all iPhone models currently compatible with iOS 18. This is great news, especially for owners of older devices like the iPhone XS and XR, released in 2018.
According to the report, the new operating system will support the yet-to-be-released iPhone 17 series, along with iPhone 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11 series, and iPhone XS/XR models. Additionally, second, third, and fourth-generation iPhone SE models will also benefit from this update.
Apple's AI Integration efforts are likely to play a significant role in shaping iOS 19. The company’s Apple Intelligence AI features could influence the hardware requirements for supported devices. This means some advanced features might only work on newer models.
On the iPad side, however, there will be some changes. The report indicates that the 7th generation iPad, powered by the A10 processor, will not receive the iPadOS 19 update. This suggests that the minimum processor requirement for iPadOS 19 could be raised to the A12 chip.
