Apple has placed a large number of Mini
LED display orders for new devices to be introduced in 2022. It is also
reported that the company has signed contracts with additional suppliers to
meet the requirements.
Apple has recently begun to slowly
switch to Mini LED display panels. Pro Display XDR, 12.9-inch iPad Pro and new
Macbook Pro devices already use Mini LED screens. Now the company is expected
to expand the use of Mini LEDs with new devices in 2022. The 11-inch iPad Pro,
27-inch iMac Pro and updated Macbook Air devices, which are expected to switch
to new display panels, will be available this year. Apple, which is currently
working with Taiwanese company Epistar, is looking for new suppliers due to
growing demand. According to DigiTimes, Apple`s new Mini LED supplier will be
Sanan Optoelectronics. Epistar plans to increase investment in China from the
second quarter of 2022 to meet Apple`s requirements. Note that Mini LED display
panels are considered a relatively new technology. It consumes less energy than
other display panels and shows better color accuracy. For this reason,
companies are turning to Mini LEDs instead of display technologies such as IPS
LCD, Amoled, Dot Screen. Apple is expected to use the Mini LED in many more
products in the coming years.
