WhatsApp is currently testing a new design that provides direct access to artificial intelligence chatbots. This update, now available in beta, adds a dedicated AI tab to the main interface.
Meta’s popular messaging app aims to enhance user experience by integrating AI-powered tools. Currently accessible through the Android beta version, this feature simplifies access to AI functionalities.
According to WABetaInfo, the update reserves one of WhatsApp’s four main tabs for AI, featuring a section called "Popular AI Characters" and topic-specific chatbots. Additional AI features include AI-generated images, stickers, and a Meta AI search tool.
These tools are not entirely new but are limited to the US and select regions. With the latest update, AI features will become more widely available.
The new AI tab replaces the current Communities tab, though the Communities feature remains accessible, now streamlined within the Chats tab.
The beta version of WhatsApp is available on Google Play but is restricted to a limited number of testers. The release date for the AI tab ’s general availability is yet to be announced.
