There were rumors that Apple would call the operating system for its AR and VR platform "realityOS". But according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple has renamed its mixed reality operating system xrOS. The company has reportedly signaled that it may be close to rolling out its mixed reality glasses. So what does xrOS mean?
The operating system xrOS, which Apple will use in the VR or AR glasses (headset) product that it has been working on for a while, is the abbreviation of "extended reality", which covers both virtual and augmented reality. The company is said to be working on at least three types of AR and VR headsets. Code numbers; N301, N421 and N602. The N301 is said to be Apple Reality Pro, the headset that surfaced in the trademark filing back in the summer. It is expected that this headset can be introduced in 2023 and will be a mixed reality model to be compared to Meta Quest Pro. The N602 is expected to be the second generation version and will offer a choice of two versions (more advanced hardware and a more affordable alternative). Finally, the N421 is expected to be smart glasses (probably Apple Glass) more than the hood.
Estimated price is 3000 dollars!
It is said that Apple's mixed reality headset may come with dual 4K OLED displays, 15 camera modules with dots on the outside, eye tracking and hand gestures support. It is estimated that the product, which is still under development, will come out at a price of $ 3000.
