Popular video platform TikTok has introduced an option that allows users to receive direct messages from anyone. Users will be able to receive messages from all users on the platform by selecting everyone from the DM settings. TikTok has been testing the "receive messages from everyone" option, which it just added to its DM settings, for a while. Tested by a small group of users, it was reported via email that the option is now available to all users. Users will be able to DM anyone who opens their inbox, instead of just being able to message their friends.
It should be noted that this feature is optional. Users will be able to continue to receive messages only from accounts they follow or suggested friends.
While TikTok tries to look a little more like Instagram, Instagram is going in the opposite direction. Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri said earlier this week that the social network is too focused on videos, with people choosing to use Instagram as a photo platform, so the company will do a due diligence.
