The American tech giant Apple continues to dominate markets worldwide, including China. Recent data highlights Apple ’s increasing market share in this region.
In Q3 2024, Apple once again demonstrated its supremacy in the smartphone market, achieving remarkable success globally. Specifically in China, the company captured an impressive share, with 5 out of the top 10 best-selling models being iPhones. iPhone 15 Pro Max topped the list, followed by iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15. This achievement underlines Apple's strong brand image and the impact of its high-quality products on consumers.
Local brands like Honor, Oppo, Xiaomi, Vivo, and Huawei also made the list. However, their combined market share still lags behind Apple. Once a significant player in the industry, Huawei managed to secure a spot only with its Huawei Pura 70 model. Although the company maintains its presence in the $550-$825 price range, it has lost its grip in the premium segment.
This decline is attributed to trade restrictions imposed by the U.S., forcing Huawei to rely on locally produced, less powerful chips, which negatively impact its competitiveness. Nonetheless, Huawei still enjoys significant local support from loyal customers who prefer its products as a contribution to domestic technological growth and reduced foreign dependency.
The recently launched Mate 70 series gained attention with its HarmonyOS Next, a fully proprietary operating system developed by Huawei, independent of Android. Aimed to rival iOS and Android, the series starts at $756 and includes the foldable Mate X6 and AI-driven features.
Meanwhile, as Apple strengthens its position in the smartphone market, Huawei faces an uncertain future. The company needs to adopt innovative strategies to regain a stronger foothold in both technology and global competition.
