Recently, the Ultra naming has started to appear frequently in the portable device ecosystem. Ultra smart phones, Ultra smart watches, Ultra laptops come equipped with some extra advantages compared to standard models. This year, it was on the agenda that Apple would remove the iPhone 15 Pro Max naming and use the iPhone 15 Ultra name instead. Thus, the iPhone 15 Pro Max would have separated itself a little more from the series.

Next year, it is stated that the iPhone 16 Ultra will be a separate device at a much higher level. As we saw in the Apple Watch Ultra example, the iPhone 16 Pro Max will continue on its normal path, while the iPhone 16 Ultra will offer different features. It is stated that there is an exchange of ideas about this within the company. For example, it will pack a higher price tag with extras like a faster chipset, a larger screen, custom software support, a new design, USB Type-C port and improved split screen. As such, it will become the most expensive iPhone model.

It is unclear whether such a strategy will materialize, as it is still at the assertion stage. However, as with the Apple Watch Ultra and Apple Watch X claims, Apple may reveal different solutions from time to time.
