Call recording feature comes to iPhones with iOS 18.1

Apple released the first beta of iOS 18.1 on 29 July. In the iOS 18.1 beta, it was noteworthy that Apple Intelligence was introduced as well as the Call Recording feature.

Apple released iOS 18.1 beta for developers and enthusiasts yesterday. The new iOS 18 version brings Apple Intelligence, including the new Siri and more. It also introduces a feature that allows users to record and transcribe phone calls.

How to use the iOS 18.1 call recording feature?

To record a call, iPhone users simply tap the record button in the top left corner after making a call. Everyone on the call will be notified with a voice message that the call has been recorded. However, it is not possible for the other party to give consent; if they do not want the call to be recorded, they will need to end the call.

While the call is in progress, the audio recording will be saved in the "Notes" app. Users will be able to replay recorded phone calls by opening Notes and receive a written transcript and summary.

Apple Intelligence is currently limited to iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1 developer beta. To unlock Apple Intelligence, it is not enough to install the update; you must set the iPhone's language to English, set the region to the United States, and join the waiting list.
