It has been revealed that Apple is working on more than one iPad model, especially the iPad Mini. So what will these models be? Here is all we know
Having recently announced the 11-inch and 13-inch M4 iPad Pro models with OLED displays, Apple has now shifted its focus to the M5 and iPhone 16 series. Earlier this week, it was confirmed that the iPhone 16 will come in four different models with the A18 chip. Now, the same source has shared future iPad updates, especially the iPad Mini.
A new leak shared on X suggests that three new iPad models are on the way: the iPad mini 7, iPad 11 and M5 iPad Pro. Starting with the iPad 11, the tablet will be powered by the A16 processor in both WiFi and cellular versions. Although this is a two-year-old processor, the current iPad 10 is powered by the A14.
As for the iPad mini 7, the tablet is expected to be available with the A17 processor and Wi-Fi and Cellular configurations. It is not yet clear whether this will be the A17 Pro from the iPhone 15 Pro or a slightly lower A17. But packing such a powerful processor into such a small tablet could be a big advantage.
The new tablets are expected to be released before the end of the year. In addition to these models, the new report also includes some cancelled iPad versions. The first of these is an iPad with an A14 processor. Another is a cancelled M3 iPad Pro, described as between 15.3 and 15.6. For those who missed it, the previous iPad Pro came out in October 2022 with the M2 processor. This may confirm why the M3 model was passed over.
