Apple has revamped Final Cut Pro for Mac and iPad after 13 years, introducing Final Cut Pro 11 with smart features, spatial video editing, time-saving tools, and much more.
In October, Apple hinted at a new version of Final Cut Pro when introducing the M4 chip Mac lineup. Now, Final Cut Pro 11 is available with a host of intelligent improvements.
Final Cut Pro 11 takes full advantage of Apple’s M-series chips. The new Magnetic Mask tool, powered by AI, allows users to separate people and objects from the background without using a green screen or time-consuming rotoscoping techniques. This tool also works with color correction and video effects. Another new AI feature, Auto Captions, analyzes the audio in the video using a large language model trained by Apple and generates automatic captions.
The new Final Cut Pro also supports spatial video editing. You can import footage from the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16, or Canon R7, perform color corrections, add effects, and enhance videos with titles and other features.
The Final Cut Pro iPad 2.1 version improves the touch-first editing experience with the Light and Color Enhancer, which allows users to adjust color balance, contrast, and brightness with a single touch.
Support for Apple Pencil Pro and Magic Keyboard adds tactile feedback. This means users will feel light feedback when trimming clips, moving media, navigating the timeline, and resizing viewer clips. Apple has also added four new ink types to the Live Drawing feature on iPad for adding animations to videos: watercolor, pencil, fountain pen, and monoline pen.
Other improvements include vertical compression to scale clip heights to fit the timeline, dynamic adjustment of the viewer’s size and position in Picture-in-Picture mode, and support for 90-120 FPS recording for the iPhone 16 Pro models. The content library also includes new modular transitions, color grading presets, and dynamic audio tracks.
Final Cut Pro 11 offers fast, smart tools, AI-powered features, time-saving workflow improvements, and spatial video support. You can download it from the App Store.
