Apple has updated the list of obsolete products!

On December 1, Apple updated its list of classic and obsolete products. According to the company, late 2013 21.5-inch and 27-inch iMacs, mid-2014 21.5-inch iMacs, and late 2014 27-inch Retina 5K iMacs are now among obsolete Macs. The first iMac to feature a 5K Retina display is by Phil Schiller, “It's the craziestly gorgeous Mac he's ever made. With a breathtaking 14.7 million pixel display, faster CPU and graphics, Fusion Drive and Thunderbolt 2, it was touted as "the most beautiful and most powerful iMac ever." Apple has also added the Apple Watch Series 2 smartwatch to its classic product list. Introduced in 2016, the watch received the latest watchOS 6.3 update.

Which Apple products are considered classic and obsolete?

Apple adds products that are not manufactured for more than 5 years and not older than 7 years to the list of vintage products. With a few exceptions, the company stops providing hardware services for its devices, which are among the classic products. Products that were discontinued more than 7 years ago are added to the list of obsolete products. There are no exceptions for aging products; service providers cannot order parts for obsolete products.
