Elon Musk’s xAI artificial intelligence company continues to expand and aims to grow its user base. As part of this goal, the company has introduced a standalone iOS application.
The innovative initiative by Elon Musk, xAI, has now launched a dedicated iOS version of the Grok AI chatbot, which was previously only available to users on X (formerly Twitter). Currently in beta testing in Australia and select countries, the app stands out with its broad range of features.
The Grok app provides real-time data access, pulling information from both the web and the X platform. It supports features like text rewriting, summarizing lengthy paragraphs, and engaging in Q&A. Additionally, it includes the ability to generate text-to-image content.
xAI is also working to make Grok accessible via the web. A preview of this is available at Grok.com, where users are greeted with a “coming soon” message. Initially, Grok was exclusive to X platform’s premium subscribers, but in November, xAI began testing a free version, which has since been rolled out to all X users.
One standout feature of Grok is its “photo-realistic” visual generation capabilities. Directly competing with ChatGPT, Grok offers a more “open” visual creation model, enabling the generation of celebrity likenesses and copyrighted figures. While this opens the door for unique and creative imagery, it also stirs debate.
