WeChat, China's WhatsApp, has blocked the accounts of NFT sellers. The platform, which says it has taken such a step to control counterfeit crypto sales, has banned hundreds of accounts.
The WeChat platform is considered to be China's WhatsApp. However, this platform, which has more features than WhatsApp, is also used for sales. WeChat has begun blocking these accounts to prevent fraud by NFT sellers. When the account owner tried to access their profiles, they were told: "An official license or permission is required to publish, sell or engage in such activities." Following the news on social media, the platform's officials made a statement. They said that such sales on WeChat and the creation of an official company account belong only to licensed companies. In order to be included in the list of licensed companies, they must register with the Chinese Cyber Space Administration and not be allowed to resell. In China, where crypto activities are banned, there is currently no ban on NFTs. For this reason, the interest of users in the oil market is very high.
