According to Chinese sources, Xiaomi is
working on an updated version of the Xiaomi 12 Pro smartphone. The updated
version will be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. The new model
will be stronger than the previous one.
According to Digital Chat Station, one
of the most reliable sources of the mobile ecosystem, Xiaomi has decided to
update the Xiaomi 12 Pro. The smartphone with model number L2S is tested with
SM8475 processor. It is claimed that this processor is Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The
company previously used the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor in the Xiaomi 12 Pro.
However, according to test results, this processor did not meet expectations.
As the performance of the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset surpassed that of
Snapdragon, Qualcomm accelerated the production of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2
chipset. Apparently, Xiaomi also wants to update its smartphone with this
chipset.
Qualcomm has been working with Samsung
for several years to produce chipsets. The previous Snapdragon 888 chipset was
also manufactured by Samsung, and both users and Qualcomm were dissatisfied due
to performance issues. Allegedly, the next production of chipsets may take
place with TSMC, instead of Samsung. Chipsets can work more efficiently because
TSMC`s production methods are better optimized.
The presentation of the new chipset is
scheduled for April. The updated Xiaomi 12 Pro will also be available in the
summer.
