A special cooling system will be required for high-performance SSDs
With advanced SSD technologies such as PCIe 5.0 and PCIe 6.0, it will now be mandatory to have an active cooling system. SSDs, which are already slim and simple in design, will be more complex.
SSDs, first developed in the 1980s, are now the first choice for high-speed users. SSDs that have not had a heating problem so far will start to heat up more as their performance increases. With today's technology, manufacturers are trying to increase the maximum memory capacity of SSDs by stacking NAND chips. With the advent of technologies such as PCIe 5.0 and PCIe 6.0, users will be able to use high-memory SSDs very quickly. Sebastian Jean, Phison's chief technical officer, said that with the new SSDs, active cooling systems will have to be used to cool them. Otherwise, the file transfer speed of SSDs decreases as the heating increases. With PCIe 5.0, these active cooling systems will become standard. It should be noted that the prices of SSDs have risen significantly due to chip problems
