Qualcomm's updated chipset Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ may be introduced in May this year. This time the new chipset will be produced by TSMC, not Samsung.
Qualcomm is a manufacturer known in the market for the performance of its chipsets. With a sudden decision a few years ago, the company partnered with Samsung to produce Snapdragon chipsets. However, in recent years, Qualcomm chipsets have been experiencing performance and warm-up issues. Engineers attribute this to the fact that Samsung's production process is not as efficient as expected. For this reason, Qualcomm will resume cooperation with TSMC. An updated version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset by TSMC, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+, may be available in May this year. Allegedly, after the introduction of Qualcomm, phones using the new chipset will go on sale in June.
It should be noted that the most important reason for Qualcomm's haste is Mediatek. The fact that Mediatek's Dimensity 9000 chipset has become the most powerful chipset on Android has alarmed Qualcomm. Therefore, the company plans to act faster and produce a new chipset with TSMC.
