Wanting to get ahead of the MediaTek 8100 chipset, Qualcomm is preparing to launch the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset. The chipset comes with new architectures. Despite Qualcomm's biggest share of the revenue pie, the fact that it could not compete with the Dimensity 9000 in certain scenarios broke the morale a bit. Production was shifted to TSMC while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ was pulled back. On the other hand, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset has also started to be prepared. The fact that the Dimensity 8100 chipset also went head-to-head with the Snapdragon 888 caused Qualcomm to speed up the preparations. The final stage has been reached for the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset. There are no Cortex-X2 cores in the chipset, which will include 4 Cortex-A710 and 4 Cortex-A510 cores. Together with the Adreno 662 graphics unit, it reaches a satisfactory performance.
Its rival Dimensity 8100 chipset has Cortex-A78 and Cortex-55 cores. With architectural innovations, Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 seems to be a bit ahead, but the capabilities of optimizations will determine the winner at this point.
