Oppo is also developing its own processor

In recent years, many technology giants have started to develop their own processors. Even on the MacBook side, Apple continued to develop processors for Samsung smartphones, while switching to its own processors. In recent years, Google, Huawei and Xiaomi have also introduced their own processors. New information shows that Oppo is also on this path.

The new report from Ithome shows that technology giant Oppo is preparing processors for smartphones. The processor, which is expected to go into mass production in 2023, will be for entry-level smartphones and will be produced in TSMC's 6nm fabrication process. It is expected to appear on the first phones in 2024. Later versions of the processor are expected to have an integrated modem and be produced in TSMC's 4nm fabrication process. The report states that the algorithm design of the processor, supply chain tape out, memory system architecture and IP design are done in-house. Oppo introduced its Mariana MariSilicon X processor last year, but it has still not been used in any product. We will see how Oppo's entry into the processor race will affect Qualcomm, MediaTek and Samsung. MediaTek's performance and market share in recent years seems to have pushed other companies to produce mobile processors.
