Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, has been fined again. Mark Zuckerberg`s Meta will pay 17 million euros for failing to secure user data.
Meta, formerly known as Facebook, has been fined 17 million euros by the Data Protection Commission for failing to protect the privacy of users in Europe. The European Union has reportedly enacted a law called GDPR to protect users` data. Meta could not meet the requirements of this law due to these 12 data security problems. Therefore, he was fined. It should be noted that the ongoing research phase began in 2018. After four years, the investigation was completed and confirmed, and Meta could not get rid of these penalties. Earlier, WhatsApp was fined 225 million euros for these laws. The Data Protection Commission, which has also imposed various fines on Twitter, is now investigating Instagram. The main suspicion is that the Instagram platform has not taken any steps to ensure the confidentiality of children`s information. For this reason, it is expected that Instagram will also receive its share of these fines.
