In recent months, Ericsson has sued
Apple for patent infringement. Now, iPhone sales may be banned in many
countries at Ericsson`s request. The main reason for Ericcson`s lawsuit against
Apple was a patent infringement for its 5G network.
5G technology is now becoming a standard. Promising faster internet than 4G, the 5G network is also very important for IoT. Thus, all household items could now be connected to the internet via 5G. Although companies are making the transition to 5G faster in the Android ecosystem, users were looking forward to Apple`s transition to 5G. And it finally happened. Apple signed a contract with Ericcson to use 5G in iPhone smartphones. Under the agreement, Apple smartphones would use Ericsson patents.
However, Ericsson sued Apple
over the disagreement between the two companies. Ericsson`s request may ban
iPhone sales in some countries, including Germany, Brazil, Netherlands, and
Belgium. The UK and other European countries will soon join the ban. The main
reason for the dispute is that Ericsson has not updated its patent agreement
even though Apple`s patents have expired. Ericsson also did not accept Apple`s
lowering the license prices. That`s why Apple sued the other party. Apple
officials say that if Ericsson withdraws the lawsuit, Apple will do the same.
It is currently unknown what the final decision of the court and its companies
will be
