According to the repair review conducted by the iFixit team, the iPhone 16 stands out as Apple's most repairable phone to date. A few important changes are said to make the device easier and safer to repair.

iPhone 16 repair is quite easy

One of the most notable changes to iPhone 16 concerns how the battery is secured inside the device. Previous models used strips to hold the battery in place, but these often broke and users risked explosion when trying to carefully remove the battery. Apple has switched to a new adhesive to solve this problem. Using 9-12V DC current, the adhesive can be loosened and the battery can be easily removed. iFixit successfully performed this process using 12V with the new FixHub soldering stations and noted that the process took only one minute.

Another important change is the replacement of the battery's plastic pouch structure with a steel case, as in the Apple Watch. This simple but effective innovation significantly reduces the risk of explosion if the battery is damaged during repair or replacement and makes the repair process safer. As it is known, lithium-ion batteries can react with oxygen and burn when pierced with a screwdriver or similar tool.

In previous iPhone models, it was often necessary to remove the screen to replace the battery or other internal components. In the base model of the iPhone 14, Apple made a design change that allowed access from the front or back of the device.
