Trump`s decision will make it more
expensive than expected to replace Huawei and ZTE equipment due to US sanctions
against Chinese companies. Prices will be higher than the US expects.
According to Jessica Rosenworcel, head
of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), $ 5.6 billion is needed to
replace Huawei and ZTE equipment used by US companies. In 2020, $ 1.8 billion
was allocated to replace the equipment of Huawei and ZTE to protect the global
security of the United States. However, this budget was not enough. Verizon,
one of the largest companies in the United States, has been able to
successfully replace this equipment in the past two years. 181 small operators
have also applied to the FCC for the change. According to published figures,
the FCC has a budget that can cover only one-third of the required budget. Therefore,
the state is expected to provide additional financial support to the FCC.
