Former SpaceX executives announce a new autonomous electric train project

Environmental pollution is currently recognized as one of the global problems. To mitigate this problem, manufacturers started using electric technology in trains. While the new electric trains are expected to save fuel, they are thought to be healthier for human life.

This technology has already been successfully tested for trains. Many countries in the world have switched to electric trains. According to tests, electric trains save 11% fuel. Recently, US President Joe Biden signed a new contract worth over $100 million. Under the agreement, the United States purchased 20 electric trains. These trains are currently used in California and Nebraska. These freight trains, produced by Wabtec and Progress Rail, carry 104,000 kilograms of cargo, providing 11% savings in emissions and fuel. Wabtec said that the trains they produce can store 100 times more energy than Tesla Model 3, so that the emission cost can be reduced by up to 30%.

The California Air Resources Authority also said the new electric trains saved $6.5 billion in healthcare costs. Parallel Systems, a company founded by former SpaceX executives, aims to produce self-propelled, autonomous and electric freight trains in the coming years. Modeled trains will be able to carry 10-15 containers. It is not yet known when the modeled and simulated tests will become available.
