YouTube will not make video recommendations
YouTube will no longer recommend videos to users who have closed their watch history. It will disable all video suggestions, including those shown on the home page. We know that the popular platform was making recommendations based on the videos you watched. In this context, YouTube viewers are familiar with a home page full of videos they've watched. But with the latest update, the unnecessary complexity of the home page is gone. Instead of video suggestions, only search bar and subscriptions, short videos will be shown.
“Starting today, if your watch history is turned off, features that require watch history (like the YouTube home feed) will be disabled. This means that your home feed will look very different from now on. Without the suggested video stream, you will only see the search bar and the left menu. Thus, you will more easily search and review the channels you subscribe to," said a YouTube official.
With the update, YouTube aims to make the platform more fluid for users who find videos by searching instead of video suggestions. YouTube also reminds that users will see the changes after a few months.
