YouTube has changed its design!

YouTube is getting a new look and some extra features. The app is now more modern thanks to an overhauled dark theme, general design changes, and innovations focused on added functionality.

First, you can now use your fingers to zoom in on a video in the iOS and Android apps. When you zoom in on the video, even if you remove your fingers from the screen, the video will continue to progress while zoomed in. In August, the zoom feature was started to be tested on Premium users, and now it will be available to everyone. Another feature will make it easier for you to find the right part of the videos. This feature, which works similarly to Netflix, will show users thumbnail previews with the swipe up gesture on desktop and mobile. We can say that it will make things easier for you to find important places again in long videos or a guide video.

YouTube design is now more modern

On the visual front, a new ambient mode is being integrated into the app that changes the background color to match the video. YouTube UX director Nate Koechley describes it as a subtle effect that uses dynamic color sampling to draw users' attention to the video and focus more on the content. In addition, the ambiance mode will also be available in video playlists and dark mode. YouTube, on the other hand, announced that it has made the already existing dark mode feature darker on the web, TV and smartphones. In addition, the "subscribe" button is renewed and buttons are added instead of links in the descriptions. At the same time, the like, share and download buttons have been revised. Finally, it should be noted that YouTube has started to implement these changes as of today. It may take several weeks for the changes to reach everyone.
