Instagram, one of the world's most popular social media platforms, recently made an update for the Reels format. 20 different music can now be added to Reels videos.
In a recent statement made by Instagram, it said that it will allow users to add multiple audio tracks to Reels videos. So users can now add multiple tracks to a single Reels and have them overlap or merge together to fit different phases of the clip.
Useful feature for Instagram Reels enthusiasts
Instagram announced that users can add up to 20 songs to a single Reels. Users will be able to add songs via the Reels editor and select the parts of the songs they want. Technically, this can also be done in TikTok's video editor CapCut, but since it was not actually designed for this purpose, we can say that the new feature for IG is original.
The ability to use multiple music tracks in a single Reels video will offer new application areas to content creators. For example, the new feature can be used to compare old and new versions of a song. However, Instagram will attribute the entire merged piece to the creator. Therefore, other users will be able to use the sounds you create in their own clips.
However, Instagram president Adam Mosseri said a while ago that the platform will not focus on long-format videos and that the platform will focus on short videos. It is stated that people do not prefer to send long videos (like 10-20 minutes) to their friends even if they watch them, which reduces interaction. The new feature will be available to users starting today.
