Another Feature of iPhone 17 and 17 Pro Revealed

A new detail about Apple iPhone 17 and 17 Pro series has emerged. The flagship phones will feature two distinct Apple-manufactured chips. Here’s more information…

Last September, Apple introduced the iPhone 16 family with minor updates. However, recent leaks indicate critical changes are expected for the iPhone 17 series. Just hours ago, it was revealed that the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro will come equipped with two separate chips developed by Apple.

Apple Prepared for 5G Modem and Wi-Fi 7

For those who missed it, Apple has been working on its own 5G modem and Wi-Fi 7 chip for a while. According to supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, "at least one model of iPhone 17 will support Apple’s Wi-Fi 7 chip." Kuo notes that Apple's 5G and Wi-Fi chips are currently being designed as "two separate chips."

These chips are expected to be used simultaneously in iPhone 17 and other devices starting from the second half of 2025. This contradicts previous reports of a single chip integrating Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and 5G. Additionally, Kuo states that the iPhone SE 4, anticipated in March, will feature an Apple-designed 5G modem but will continue to use Broadcom for the Wi-Fi chip.

Thus, iPhone SE 4 will only have the Apple-designed 5G modem, while Broadcom's Wi-Fi chip will still be in place. For those interested, current iPhone 16 models support Wi-Fi 7 through Broadcom, though there are some limitations.

While none of this information is officially confirmed, it’s clear that Apple aims to reduce dependency on external suppliers for connectivity technologies.
