Xiaomi added a new feature to its MIUI interface in 2022, which is recognized to protect users from spam and malicious app installations. At the time, many experts wondered if apps banned in China would be "censored." It seems that it did.
Can't pass security check
According to BleepingComputer, Xiaomi has blocked Telegram from being installed on its smartphones in China. When trying to install the popular messaging app, a message is displayed stating that the app failed the security check.
Such a restriction is unlikely to affect the officially imported versions of Xiaomi smartphones in other countries. However, users who purchased the Chinese version of the devices for any reason will be affected. Even if the owner of the device lives outside of China, Telegram will not be able to be installed on these smartphones.
