Two years after the 'View Once' feature for photos and videos, Meta-powered messaging app WhatsApp has also introduced voice messages that disappear when listened to.
The " View Once " feature on WhatsApp has been available for photos and videos since 2021, but is now being extended to voice messages as well. You can now set the voice messages you send during a chat to be listened to once. When the voice message is listened to, it will automatically disappear.

WhatsApp said in its statement: “To add an additional layer of privacy to your messages, we introduced the "View Once" feature for photos and videos in 2021. Today, we are excited to announce that you can send a voice message that will disappear after the other person listens.” he said. Thanks to the new feature, you will now be able to share sensitive information with peace of mind via voice message while reading your credit card information to a friend or planning a surprise.
Meanwhile, voice messages that disappear after View Once will be clearly marked with a "one-time" icon, allowing the other party to understand the type of voice message. Like all your personal messages, WhatsApp voice messages are protected by end-to-end encryption by default. This means Meta or any other party cannot read your chats. Voice messages, which will disappear after Viewed Once, will be gradually made available all over the world in the coming days.
How to send lost voice messages on WhatsApp?
- Open an individual chat or a group chat.
- Slide the icon up to lock the recording.
- Press and hold the recording icon.
- Tap the "One-time" icon. Once the icon turns green, it means you are in viewing mode.
- Tap the Send icon.
Once viewed, you must open lost photos, videos, or voice messages within 14 days after they were sent. Otherwise, the relevant media or voice message will be deleted from the chat because it has expired. While the "View media once" feature is enabled, you cannot forward, save, share or star the photos, videos or voice messages sent or received to other people.
