WhatsApp introduced passkey verification support for iOS after Android. This means that users will no longer have to deal with disposable SMS passwords to verify their devices. So, what is the Whatsapp passkey feature, how to use it?

Passkey replaces the traditional password, and since device verification is required, passkeys put an end to online attacks such as phishing. With Passkey, there is no password that can be stolen, no one-time SMS or authentication code that can be intercepted. Passkey is more convenient because logins are done with Face ID, Touch ID or device passcode instead of a password.
 

How to create WhatsApp passkey?

Passkey verification makes logging back into WhatsApp easier and more secure. Follow the steps below to create a passkey in WhatsApp:

1. Open WhatsApp.
2. Go to Settings.
3. Tap Passkeys under Account.
4. Tap Create passkey.
5. Proceed with Continue.
6. Tap Use screen lock to create the passkey.

Apple has supported passkeys since 2022. Passkey works on devices running iOS 16 and later, iPadOS 16 and later, and macOS Ventura and better. After many companies including X (Twitter), Google, Microsoft, PlayStation, WhatsApp also started to offer passkey support.
