Apple's new generation iPhone 16 series is getting closer. The latest information says that Apple will increase the amount of RAM in all iPhone 16 models.
In accordance with its traditional routine, Apple will introduce and launch the iPhone 16 series this September. At this year's iPhone event, the company is expected to focus more on artificial intelligence. It is rumoured that the system requirements of productive AI and Apple Intelligence will force Apple to increase the amount of RAM in all iPhone 16 models.
As you may recall, Apple Intelligence is currently only compatible with iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models and Mac devices with the M1 chip or later. iPhone 15 and 15 Plus cannot run Apple Intelligence due to their lower RAM and processing power, at least Apple says so.
Therefore, Apple will increase the amount of RAM in iPhone 16 and 16 Plus to make these devices compatible with the new artificial intelligence platform called Apple Intelligence. Current non-Pro iPhone 15s are rumoured to have 6GB of RAM, which Apple never officially announces. iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models reportedly have 8GB of RAM.
It was explained that Apple Intelligence requires a powerful NPU and significant RAM capacity. More specifically, along with the lack of RAM, the A16 Bionic chip found in standard iPhone 15 models has an NPU that is twice as slow as the A17 Pro chip found in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
When all this comes together, Apple is expected to increase the amount of RAM from 6GB to 8GB in iPhone 16 and 16 Plus models. With the increase in RAM in entry-level iPhones, it is claimed that Apple may also increase the RAM in iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models. Because Apple likes to set sharper differences between Pro and non-Pro models for a while.
