Stiv Jobs doesn`t want a SIM card slot on the iPhone!

Known as the Father of the iPod, Tony Fadell shared an important anecdote revealing Steve Jobs' vision. According to the former iPod VP, Jobs didn't want the first iPhone to have a SIM card slot.

We've been hearing rumors lately that Apple is preparing to launch iPhone models that don't have a physical SIM slot and only support eSIM. Former iPod Vice President Tony Fadell shared a remarkable anecdote on this subject. Considered one of the most influential members of the Apple design team, Fadell is actually referred to as the father of the iPod. The veteran, who recently interviewed journalist Joanna Stern at the Computer History Museum in California, talked about Steve Jobs' vision. Apple's founder Jobs is often remembered for his unconventional ideas. According to Tony Fadell, Steve Jobs was against the idea of having a SIM card slot in the device during the development of the first iPhone. It is even stated that he conveyed this desire to engineers and designers with the sentence "We don't want another hole in it".

So how would iPhones connect to the network without a SIM card? Jobs cited the Verizon carrier, which does not use SIM cards, as an example. Because phones using this operator can connect to base stations via CDMA cellular technology instead of GSM. Fadell states that he personally convinced Jobs that CDMA technology was not widely adopted. For Tony, it was very difficult to get Steve to give up on the ideas he believed in. Because he needed concrete facts and, if possible, the help of the whole team to convince him.
