Smartphone market at historic lows

While the global economic crisis that started after the pandemic period affected many sectors deeply, signs of recovery are visible, albeit slowly. However, the smartphone market could not straighten out.

Smartphone market down

While 272 million smartphones were sold in the second quarter of the year, there was a 6.6% decrease. Including first quarter sales, it reaches 522 million. This figure is 13.3% lower than the same period last year. The first half of the year was the lowest in the last 10 years. In the second quarter, Samsung sold 53.9 million units, while Apple sold 42 million iPhones. These two firms recorded declines in double digits. The champion of the market is Transsion. Transsion, the umbrella company of brands such as Tecno and Infinix, increased by 71.9 percent and sold 25.1 million smartphones. Other Chinese brands also experienced significant increases.

The smartphone market is not expected to recover during the year. Starting next year, it will try to end the decline. It is estimated that it will show annual increases of 2-3 percent in this period.
