Samsung's highly anticipated AR/VR headset has been revealed in its new trademark applications. The new device will be a response to Apple Vision Pro. Here are the details...
As you know, Apple introduced the AR/VR glasses called Vision Pro at the WWDC 2023 event in June. These glasses, which combine the virtual and real world, managed to make a splash with both their price of $ 3,500 and their features. Now it seems that the response from Samsung will not be delayed. The Galaxy AR/VR headset, which has been rumored for a while, has passed a trademark application.
It was revealed that Samsung was trying to register a new AR/VR headset within the scope of its applications to the UK Intellectual Property Office. The model, listed on the platform with the trademark number 'UK00003947958', will apparently bear the name 'Samsung Glasses'. However, it is unclear whether the company will keep the same title at the time of the official announcement. This name Niketim may cause confusion among users.
It is also stated that the trademark application was made on November 10 and mass production will start in December. If we recall, previous reports were that the AR headset was postponed to December 2023 and would be introduced in the second half of 2024. New information confirms this. However, Samsung is targeting an extremely low initial shipment volume of 30,000 units. This figure is well below the 600,000 stated for Apple Vision Pro.
It is currently unclear what Samsung's XR glasses will offer. However, since it will be aimed at XR technology, we can say that it will come with features similar to Vision Pro. However, let us remind you that there is no official statement from the company.
