South Korean technology giant Samsung lagged behind Apple in the smartphone market in the last quarter of 2022, but with the announcement of the first quarter report of 2023, the company took the first place again.
Samsung, Apple and Xiaomi in the top three
Famous research firm Canalys has published a report from the smartphone market for the first quarter of 2023. According to the report, Samsung has risen to first place with a market share of 22%, while Apple is second with a market share of 21%. Although Xiaomi lost its market percentage compared to the previous year, it maintained the third place. OPPO, on the other hand, showed a small percentage increase. According to the firm, the smartphone market remained below 300 million sales this quarter, down 12%.
Although Samsung was first in the first quarter of last year, it lagged behind Apple in the last quarter of last year. However, the fact that the sales of the Galaxy S23 series are 70% higher than the Galaxy S22 seems to have worked for the South Korean company. Although the smartphone market has seen serious declines in recent years, Canalys stated that the market will stabilize at the end of the year.
