What does iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus offer with features

Apple is bringing some design changes with iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, including the new Capture Button (Camera Control). Design: New buttons have arrived

Apple, which satisfies the curiosity about when the iPhone 16 will be introduced with It's Glowtime event, does not make much change on the design side. iPhone 16 and 16 Plus resemble iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus at first glance, at least from the front. However, when you turn the phones upside down, the new camera island positioned vertically in the shape of a pill first catches the eye. iPhone 16 colours: More colourful, more vibrant

As in the past years, Apple is launching its new iPhones with five different colour options. In this context, iPhone 16 Plus and iPhone 16 colours will be as follows: Blue, Pink, White, Black and Green.

This year, Apple has abandoned the yellow colour option for iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus and added the white colour option instead. In addition, the colours are more saturated this year.

iPhone 16 camera specifications

Apple does not make any hardware changes to the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus cameras this year. In this context, the 48 MP iPhone 16 main camera continues to have an aperture of f/1.6. The 12 MP Ultra Wide camera now has an aperture of f/2.2. Thus, improvements have been achieved in the low light performance of iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. On the front of the phones, there is a 12 MP selfie arch.

The cameras can shoot 4k60 video with Dolby Vision HDR. The telephoto camera retains the same 2x zoom feature, but captures 2.6 times more light with a larger aperture and larger pixels.

The new Camera Control on iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will work in conjunction with a new Visual Intelligence feature that lets you get details about objects in the camera's viewfinder, such as a restaurant, bike, document or pet.

New A18 chip for performance

Apple is using the same generation chip in all of this year's iPhone 16 series, but the chip in the higher-end models continues to be more powerful. The A18 chip in the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus is manufactured on TSMC's advanced 2nd generation 3nm process. The new chip also has 8 GB of RAM to take advantage of the Apple Intelligence artificial intelligence platform. As it is known, iPhone 15 and Plus had 6 GB of RAM and therefore could not run Apple Intelligence.

With the new A18 chip, productive artificial intelligence is enabled to run on the device. The 16-core neural engine has been optimised for this. The A18 chip also has 17 per cent more system memory bandwidth. This provides more play space to run models. On the processor side of the A18 chip, there is a 6-core CPU with 2 performance and 4 efficiency cores. This CPU is up to 30 per cent faster than the A16 Bionic in iPhone 15 and up to 60 per cent faster than the A14 Bionic in iPhone 12. In addition, it consumes 30 per cent less energy than the A16 Bionic.

Apple emphasises ‘desktop-class GPU’ with a 5-core GPU that is up to 40 per cent faster than iPhone 15 and 2 times faster than iPhone 12. At the same time, it manages to offer the same performance using 35 per cent less power than the previous generation.

On the screen side, iPhone 16 has a 6.1-inch OLED screen, while iPhone 16 Plus comes with a 6.7-inch OLED screen. Thus, Apple did not change the screen size in the entry-level iPhone 16 models. However, both phones have a pixel density of 460 ppi, while iPhone 16 has a resolution of 1179x2556 pixels and iPhone 16 Plus has a resolution of 1290x2796 pixels.

Apple Intelligence was already introduced during WWDC, and the iPhone 16s are the first iPhones built for AI. Some of the models on Apple's AI platform run directly on the device. The compute-intensive AI features are processed in the cloud.

Apple Intelligence can understand and create languages, images, and more. Apple Intelligence will help with ‘prioritisation and focus’.
