First time traffic drop in ChatGPT: Interest dwindling

It seems that users around the world are slowly getting bored of the artificial intelligence rush. ChatGPT chatbot's global traffic, which includes desktop and mobile devices, fell 9.7% in June, according to data from web analytics company SimilarWeb. The number of unique visitors to the ChatGPT website has also decreased by 5.7%. SimilarWeb also stated that the time users spend on the web page fell by 8.5%. OpenAI's popular chatbot is experiencing traffic drops for the first time since its launch in November.

Why might interest have waned?

This decrease in traffic revealed that the chatbot is no longer as interesting as it was in the early days. This may be due to the fact that the free version of ChatGPT often generates information based on outdated data. Because the current knowledge base of the chatbot does not include post 2021.

In addition, the summer vacation may have contributed to the decrease in website traffic. With schools closing, students are now using ChatGPT less for homework. The decline in interest in artificial intelligence-based chatbots is not limited to ChatGPT. A 38% drop in Microsoft Bing app downloads was also reported.
