New on Instagram: Users now have to specify a reason among the options when sending a follow request.

It seems that serial follow-up requests will end on Instagram. Those who send follow-up requests on the platform will now face a new screen.

According to Alessandro Paluzzi, who shared the new features coming to Instagram, Instagram will ask those who send a follow-up request to specify a reason, as in LinkedIn. "Choose a reason to add to your follow request. This will help the person know who you are."

It is currently unclear what the options will be, whether there will be an option to add a private message. The new feature will slow down follow requests to some extent. With the recently added DM request sending limit, it is a feature that will benefit those who hide their profile. Speaking of privacy, read information can be disabled in the application; this feature is currently in the testing phase.
