New "Shot" story format and more coming to Instagram

The Instagram meta-holding company is apparently working on new features to be added to the platform. Among them is a new story format called "Shot."

Instagram-owned Meta is trying to keep the social media platform alive by adding new features. Apparently, the app, which currently has over 3.8 billion downloads worldwide, is testing a new Story format and camera tool. The new format will apparently be called "Shot," though details are still unclear.

"Shot" and more will be coming to Instagram

The most notable of these features, decoded by Alessandro Paluzzi, is a new Story format called "Shot." It looks like Instagram has been testing this feature for some time now. To access the Shot feature, you need to open your camera and swipe left from the bottom to make an Instagram Story. It looks like the feature has been added to the far left.

As of now, there's no information on what exactly the Shot feature does and when it will be available. Paluzzi had already talked about similar Instagram features in previous weeks before they were announced. One of them was the "Flipside" feature, which allows you to start a second account on the same account. So you could say that his post is pure source.

However, Shot isn't the only new feature. Paluzzi also discovered that the app will soon have a new camera tool called "Pop-mode" This feature will be added to the section with tools like "Create", "Boomerang", "Hands Free" and "Dual Camera". It is not yet clear what this feature will do.

Instagram is also working on the ability to send files to DMs. However, this feature will only be available for business accounts. Profiles selling products on Instagram will find it easier to send users documents such as product specs. Background wallpaper options will also be added on the DM side. It is not yet known when these features will come to Instagram or if they will come at all.
