The countdown for M4 MacBook Air models has officially begun. Apple is planning to release the M4 MacBook Air series before introducing the budget-friendly iPad and iPhone SE 4 models.
Reports suggest that the new MacBook Air series might debut earlier than anticipated. For those unaware, the launch of 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models featuring M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max processors was previously delayed. Now, the wait seems to be nearing its end as leaks indicate that the M4 MacBook Air lineup will be unveiled in the first half of next year.
Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman noted in his "Power On" newsletter that the 13-inch and 15-inch M4 MacBook Air models are at an advanced stage of production. Although an exact launch date hasn’t been revealed, Gurman speculates that these devices will launch earlier than the iPhone SE 4 and iPad 11, which are expected in 2025. This hints at a release window between January and March.
Recent leaks indicate no major changes in the design of the new MacBook Air models. Instead, Apple appears to be focusing on technical improvements. It is expected that the M4 MacBook Air models will feature the M4 chip, 16 GB of RAM, and 512 GB of base storage. The fanless cooling system will continue to be a defining feature.
Additionally, the MacBook Air is expected to be priced more competitively. For instance, the 14-inch M4 MacBook Pro is currently listed on Amazon for just $1,399.
