Microsoft hires former OpenAI CEO Sam Altman

Things are not calming down on the artificial intelligence side and it doesn't look like it will calm down. Microsoft announced that it has hired ChatGPT developer Sam Altman and OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman.

Altman was recently fired from his position as CEO by the OpenAI board of directors for interesting reasons. After talks over the weekend to potentially bring Altman back to OpenAI collapsed, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced that both Sam Altman and Greg Brockman will join Microsoft's new advanced AI research team. Sam Altman and his team developed ChatGPT, which took the world by storm.

Microsoft hired Sam Altman

"We are extremely excited to share the news that Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, along with their colleagues, will join Microsoft to lead a new advanced AI research team," Nadella said in his post on X. Nadella also underlined that they will take action quickly to provide the necessary resources the new team needs.

Altman's hiring by Microsoft came just hours after talks with OpenAI's board failed to bring him back as OpenAI CEO. Instead of reinstating Altman, OpenAI appointed former Twitch CEO and co-founder Emmett Shear as interim CEO.
