Meta is creating its own AI-driven search engine to reduce dependence on Google and Bing. The company’s search engine will provide search results for the Meta AI assistant.
The parent company of Facebook and Instagram, Meta, is setting up its own AI-powered search engine to lessen its reliance on Google and Bing. According to The Information, the company’s search engine will scan the web to offer real-time conversational answers on current events to users interacting with the Meta AI chatbot.
Meta’s AI assistant is currently integrated with search and messaging functions on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger apps. However, for web searches, it currently relies on search results from Google and Bing.
Recently, Meta signed an agreement with Reuters, gaining rights to use the news agency’s content in AI-driven queries. With this move, the company aims to enhance its AI assistant’s capabilities and decrease dependence on Google and Microsoft.
