Meta AI will add tags to the content it creates

Starting in May, Meta will add the “Made with AI” label to AI-generated content on Instagram, Facebook, and Threads.

Stating that the scope of its current policy is too narrow, Meta will mark more videos, audio and images with an AI-generated tag. Tags will be added when users indicate that they are using AI tools or when Meta detects signs of AI. However, the company did not explain how it will detect such content.

Meta's old policy prohibits videos created or edited using AI tools that make a person say something they did not say, but does not cover the wide range of AI products that have recently invaded the web.

Meta is also changing the way it moderates AI-generated material. Starting in July, AI-generated material will not be removed unless it violates other community rules. Material that violates rules, such as bullying, election interference, and harassment, will be removed as if it was created with AI tools.
