Macbooks with Touch OLED display coming

Macbooks with Touch OLED display coming

Apple allegedly plans to bring touch screen technology to MacBook Pro models for the first time in 2026, in addition to the OLED screen

It is expected that Apple will update its 11 and 13 inch iPad models with OLED screens in the first half of next year. The new models will be the first iPad models with OLED screens, as well as the updated chassis. Not content with this, the company allegedly plans to introduce touch screen technology for the first time in addition to the OLED screen in MacBook Pro models in the future.

The company, which uses mini LED screens with better color reproduction and contrast values than standard LCD screens in current Macbook Pros, is not satisfied with this and plans to switch to OLED screens that provide much better color range and contrast.

It may come to MacBook Air later

According to the claim of the user Revegnus, who often leaks about Samsung on Twitter (X), in addition to the transition expected to take place in 2026, the company will also integrate touch screens into MacBook Pro. In fact, this technology will come to the MacBook Air series in later years .

If this transition occurs, major changes will need to occur in the macOS interface. Because the elements in the current interface are too small for the touch interface.

With new technology, the touch layer will be integrated into the screen

According to the source, the screens will be produced by Samsung and LG with "Y-OCTA" and "Touch On Encapsulation" technologies, respectively. Thanks to this technology, production will be carried out by integrating the woven layer into the panel. Thus, it will be possible to produce thinner and lower-cost panels. In current technology, the touch layer is manufactured separately and added to the OLED panel.

If the changes expected to take place around 2026-2027 come true, the difference between iPads and MacBooks will be significantly reduced. What do you think, whether such a transition makes sense or not?
