As reported, the Pixel 8 series was named the "Best Smartphone" series of 2023 in an evaluation by leading independent analysts, journalists and influencers. Let us remind you that this is a first for the Pixel series. When we look at the previous awards, the winner of last year's award was iPhone 14 Pro. In 2022, the iPhone 13 Pro Max was selected just before the Galaxy S21 Ultra. All phones competing with the Pixel 8 series in 2023 are as follows:

  • iPhone 15 Pro
  • Google Pixel 8 Series
  • OnePlus Open/OPPO Find N3
  • Samsung Galaxy S23
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5

What do the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro offer?

The Pixel 8 and 8 Pro retain the familiar design language of the successor Pixel phones. However, there is a transition to rounded corners and a more modern design. The smartphone has a 6.17-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2,000 nits brightness on the front. Let us also remind you that this screen has HDR support.

Pixel 8, which comes out of the box with Android 14 and a 4,485mAh battery pack, has a 50MP main camera paired with a 12MP ultra-wide sensor on the back. At its heart, the Tensor G3 processor offers 8GB RAM and 256GB storage space. Let us also remind you that both models offer update support for up to seven years. Pixel 8 Pro, on the other hand, has a more modern design with a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED screen compared to Pixel 8.

It also comes with a triple camera system that includes a 50MP main sensor, a 48MP ultra-wide lens and a 48MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. The Pixel 8 Pro is powered by the same Tensor G3 chip but comes with 12GB of RAM and offers up to 1TB of storage (in the US). Out of the box, it packs a larger 5,050mAh battery and slightly slower wired and wireless charging speeds.
